Musical ‘Road Show’ to Inspire and Mentor Students Comes to Montgomery

Montgomery, AL 1/24/18---  The Rising Star Road Show is an all-ages traveling musical variety show that comes to the Montgomery Performing Arts Center on Saturday February 17th 2018.

The concert harkens back to the traveling shows of the 1950’s with multiple up-and-coming artists of different genres sharing one all-star backing band. The Road Show is a part of Rising Star’s broader efforts to inspire and support the next generation of stars in arts, education, and athletics by bringing music and motivational speakers into schools across the Southeast to help students realize their dreams.

Rising Star was founded by Tommy Jackson, a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery named a Top 50 Alumni of the past 50 years and recently named one of Forbes’ and Barron’s Top Advisors in the country.

“When you come to the Road Show you’re going to see something musically special and soon enough be saying ‘I saw that artist right before they blew up.’ We’re able to get such great talent behind this mission” Jackson says. “Because more importantly, while you’re having a blast with your family & friends, you’re also supporting a greater mission that directly impacts a lot of young lives in the community.”

Jackson is called to this mission because “during my many years mentoring kids, I’ve seen many be bullied and cause self-harm. They need as much positivity and support in their lives as they can get and we’re starting Rising Star to bring that directly to them.”

The show features Montgomery favorite Jamie Kent, a critically acclaimed artist made Rolling Stone’s Top 20 Country Songs of the Year and saw his latest album debut in Billboard Country Albums Top 20; all as an independent artist.

“We’re building something that will help a lot of young students in Alabama and around the Southeast find their voice and realize they can be anything they want to be.” says Jonathan Pears, Marketing Director of RSRS and longtime friend and business partner who helped Jackson officially launch the mission along with Jamie Kent late last year.

The unique show will also feature performances by Tim Jackson, Anthony Peebles, Jon Michael Ogletree, Dee White, and will include special appearances by Booker T Washington High School Choir along with plenty of surprises.
